Free Golf Stroke Counter

Tap plus on each hole after you finish it. Par starts at 4 and you can change it. Totals are for your own card. This is not a certified competition scorecard.

How to use the golf stroke counter

This is an 18-hole stroke card for a round you want to track on your phone. It is not a tap-only total. Each hole has its own stroke count and a par you can edit (3 to 6). Out, In, Total, and vs par update as you go.

  1. On each hole, tap + after a stroke, or set the number when the hole is finished.
  2. Change Par if that hole is not a par 4. Par is used only for the vs-par line.
  3. Read Out (holes 1 to 9), In (10 to 18), Total, and vs par at the top.
  4. Press Reset round before a new 18. That clears strokes and keeps your par values.

Stroke play, in plain language

In regular stroke play, the score for a round is the total number of strokes, including penalty strokes, on every hole. The R&A Rules of Golf, Rule 3, describe how stroke play is scored. The USGA publishes the same Rules of Golf. This card adds hole scores for you. It does not replace a marker, a committee, or a signed card.

Rule 3.3b says the player is responsible for the hole scores that are certified. The committee, not the player, is responsible for adding the card in a competition. If you are in an official event, keep the card your committee issued. Use this page as a live aid, then copy hole scores onto the official card if you need them there.

A running total of strokes with no holes is a different job. That simpler count is covered in our golf stroke counter article and on the homepage clicker. This page exists because hole-by-hole scoring is not the same as tapping +1 eighteen times on one number.

  • No Stableford, match play holes-up, or tee-by-tee notes.
  • No attestation flow. Do not treat the vs-par line as a certified result.

Official rules: R&A Rule 3 and the USGA Rules Hub.
